I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 19th instant on the subject of the Canton-Kowloon Railway,
Sir E. Grey concurs in the terms of the despatch which the Secretary of State for the Colonies proposes to send to the Governor of Hongkong with a view to effecting a working agreement between the administrations of the British and Chinese sections of the railway.
A copy of the draft will be sent to His Majesty's Minister at Peking for his information.
I am to take this opportunity of forwarding for the Earl of Crewe's information, a copy of a despatch which has recently been received from His Majesty's Minister at Peking.
